OUR HISTORY

DPS is owned by professor Dawn Lorraine McBride, a clinical psychologist since 2001, who brings a wealth of experience in the mental health field. Dawn's mission for DPS is to inspire counsellors to uphold high ethical standards while fostering creativity in their counselling practices. Dawn has dedicated her career to supporting clients and therapists through a wide range of ethical and clinical challenges, while assisting agencies in enhancing their ethical and clinical care standards. With a strong passion for helping therapists navigate ethical complaints, she also provides guidance on helping counsellors "stay in their lane" when interacting with the legal system. She is writing a book called "The Big Cs in Canadian Ethics: Care, Consent, & Charting". Clinically, Dawn specializes in treating complex psychological and high-risk cases, including violence—both for victims and perpetrators. Today, DPS is staffed by a team of ethical, caring, skilled professionals who provide a wide range of services.
